Career Overview

Throughout my public health career, I have served as a senior public health scientist for 12 years at the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, acted as the Assistant Commissioner for Environmental Health with the Baltimore City, held a tenured position as an associate professor in the Department of Global, Environmental, and Occupational Health at the University of Maryland’s School of Public Health, and am a professor within the Department of Environmental Health Sciences at the University of Michigan.

In these roles, I have applied epidemiological methods and conducted exposure and risk assessments to address cumulative exposures and improve environmental public health.

My Approach

I conduct policy-relevant, solutions-focused research drawing upon risk assessment and environmental health science approaches, systems science methodologies, social science theories, and community engagement.

We cannot solve our problems with the same thinking we used to create them.
